Program Descriptions

Pre-Suzuki Beginners Program (ages 2.5 – 3.5)
Foster a love of music while spending quality time with your child! Our Pre-Suzuki music classes include an introduction to violin and piano, singing, rhythmic movements, and use of percussion instruments as you and your child form a bond through the exciting and accessible process of learning music together through the Suzuki method! Parent/caregiver participation and attendance is required. Our two different classes provide an extra focus on either stringed instruments or piano. Private lessons are available for students in these classes and are strongly recommended.

Suzuki Program (violin, viola, cello, & piano) (ages 4 & up)
Based on the method taught by Japanese pedagogue Shinichi Suzuki, our successful Suzuki program includes one-on-one private lessons as well as weekly group classes with Suzuki certified and experienced instructors. Your child receives individual attention in their private lesson with a skilled teacher to help focus on his/her strengths and weaknesses, and then they apply their abilities in an encouraging, ensemble-based group performance class where they learn how fun music can be when playing with others! Group classes also include performance opportunities outside of the school and instruction in basic music theory and music-reading skills. Any student in our Suzuki program is required to have a weekly private lesson and weekly group class. Parent attendance is required.

Advanced Performance Program (violin, viola, cello, & piano)

Our new advanced performance program is for students with several years of experience playing their instrument with proficient playing and note-reading skills. Administrator approval is required to enter this program, and these students will be offered special opportunities to perform in small chamber ensembles at special school events, outreach concerts, recitals and other concerts only offered to these special students. Students will be assigned to chamber ensembles based on their age, level, and note-reading ability. Ensemble personnel will be rotated throughout the year.

Adult Program
Learning music is for students of all ages! Our Adult Chamber Ensemble includes adult students of all levels and performs a wide variety of exciting repertoire, from Mozart to Suzuki pieces and even selections from the Beatles. Private lessons are strongly recommended for those participating in our Adult Ensemble.

Voice Program (ages 5 & up)
Our voice program is in its second year and focuses on the basics of singing and acting for children. In our voice group class, students learn a wide variety of songs from many different styles of music and in many different languages. These students are given the opportunity to perform many times throughout the year, and private lessons are encouraged to help the student refine their vocal skills. Basic music theory and note-reading is taught throughout the year.

Drums/Percussion Program
New to our school this year, our drums/percussion program includes private lessons on drumset and other percussion instruments as well as an innovative group class where students practice their technique together on their own personal drumpads and learn about the thousands of percussion instruments that exist in the world.

Private Lessons (by approval only, for advanced students)
For students who have reached a proficient performance level on their instrument, private lessons are offered with one of our esteemed artist-faculty members, who can offer training for school-age students at the highest level.
